Same-day pickup from pharmacy, verified handoff to patient or designated recipient. Driver does not open the prescription, does not discuss medication with the recipient, does not relay clinical information. Recipient signature captured at delivery with name and timestamp. Refrigerated medications (insulin, GLP-1 medications, certain vaccines, biologic injectables, certain compounded medications): temperature-controlled packaging from pickup through delivery, with cold-chain validation if required. The pharmacy provides the temperature-appropriate container; we maintain the chain. Same-day delivery is critical here — a refrigerated medication that sits unrefrigerated in a sortation hub for 18 hours is functionally unusable. Specialty and compounded medications: custom-prepared medications from compounding pharmacies often have specific handling, light-protection, or temperature requirements; we follow the pharmacy's instructions on the prescription paperwork.
Schedule II controlled substances (oxycodone, fentanyl, methadone, certain ADHD medications including Adderall and Vyvanse, certain pain medications): require additional documentation and protocols. The pharmacy must complete the appropriate transfer paperwork (often DEA form 222 or equivalent for between-facility transfers; patient prescription label and inventory documentation for patient delivery). The driver carries the prescription in tamper-evident packaging from the pharmacy, photograph the seal at pickup, maintain unbroken chain of custody during transit, and verify recipient identity at delivery. We do not deliver Schedule II medications to addresses without verified recipient identification, do not leave them at front desks, and do not discuss the medication with the recipient. What we don't do: Xentra Transport is a courier service, not a pharmacy.
